Hornby Magazine and Hornby are offering an exclusive competition to win a Maunsell ‘Schools’ 4-4-0 and a three-car set of new Bulleid 59ft corridor carriages for ‘OO’ gauge. All will be finished in matching period Southern Railway livery.
This exclusive prize creates an authentic late Southern Railway era stopping train. The Maunsell ‘Schools’ models 921 Shrewsbury in Southern Railway wartime black with Bulleid sunshine lettering on the tender (Cat No. R3458). It features a five-pole motor in the locomotive, an 8-pin DCC decoder socket in the tender and space for a 28mm round speaker.
The new Bulleid carriages model the final design of Southern Railway suburban carriage. They were introduced in 1945 using 57ft 11in Maunsell underframes built at Lancing Works in 1938. They were formed into three-car sets consisting of a Brake Third Corridor, Composite Corridor and a Brake Third Corridor. The prize includes a trio of vehicles to form an accurate set consisting of BTK 2845 (Cat No. R4884), CK 5711 (R4882) and BTK 2846 (R4884A).
