Between 1985 and 1988, Five Star, the British group of siblings who hailed from Romford and styled themselves on the Jackson 5, dominated the UK singles and album charts with four Top 20 albums and 15 Top 40 singles. Five Star, one of the most successful pop groups of the 80s, scoring three platinum selling albums in the UK, were the youngest act to top the album chart. Crimson Records celebrates their career on 4 October 2019 with the release of Five Star Gold, a 50 track ,3CD set and a 14-track album pressed on 180g Gold coloured vinyl.
With a string of hits including System Addict, Can’t Wait Another Minute, Find The Time, Rain or Shine, Stay Out Of My Life, Whenever You’re Ready and The Slightest Touch, Five Star Gold is a definitive, career spanning set. Featuring recordings from the group’s classic RCA Records’ tenure from 1984 through to 1991. Five Star Gold includes a remarkable 15 Top 30 UK singles, plus all of their UK and US hits from the period, several alternative mixes, and a full disc of dance remixes from the likes of Shep Pettibone and John Morales.
Apart from occasional reunion dates, Five Star went their separate ways in 1994, but in 2018 Denise Pearson, announced UK tour dates under the Five Star name which for the first time included four supporting artists who were not her siblings. The new line up will be on tour again this autumn.
